Our Mission:
Recognizing that God has blessed Mt. Zion UMC to be a blessing, Project 12:13 was created as a ministry to share God’s abundance with those experiencing food insecurity in our community. Food is shared with love and respect to all who come for assistance. It is our intention that they receive not only food for their physical hunger, but generous portions of kindness and grace to feed their spiritual and emotional needs. We do all this in response to Paul’s challenge in Romans 12:13, “Share with God’s people who are in need. Be hospitable.”
How This Works:
Food pickups are every first Tuesday of the month, between 12:30pm and 1:30pm (unless specified otherwise). Please try to arrive on time. Drive to the bottom of the hill, turn around and someone will come out and check you in. Stay in your vehicle and we will load the food for you!
We will call to remind you a day or so before pickup day. We understand that unforeseen things happen, but please contact us if you are running late or can’t make it. If we don’t hear from you and you are a no-show, you will not be eligible to receive food the following month. Also, please note that the food you receive from us cannot be bartered or sold for any reason. The agencies we work with do not allow this and if they drop us from their programs we will no longer be able to serve our families.
We do need a way to contact the pickup person via phone in order to enroll in this service. We understand that this might prevent us from adding some of those who, in addition to experiencing food insecurity, are also experiencing homelessness and have little to no support system. Our ministries for such children of God are different, but present. To get more information about enrolling in our program, please click the link below and someone will reach out!
