About Mt. Zion UMC Atlanta

Mt. Zion is a unique church with people from all backgrounds. Our church has been in existence for 200+ years, and many families have been attending here their entire lives. However, even if it’s your first visit, you are welcomed as family, and can see and feel God’s love from the moment you arrive. From the beautiful music that never ceases to impress, to the inspired preaching; once you enter the doors, you will want to stay.

There’s a Sunday School class for everyone at Mt. Zion, starting at 10:00am in the Fellowship Hall. Come early if you’d like a snack and some coffee while we fellowship in the lobby.

Once a month, we have a Contemporary Service called The Gathering. There, you will find a more contemporary style of worship, a lot of energy, and a short, contextualized message. We hope to expand this service in the near future, so stay tuned for updates!

Everyone in the congregation gets involved in one way or another; whether its helping in the nursery, singing in the choir, volunteering at Vacation Bible School, or stirring the stew at our annual barbecue. There are many ways to share your talents at Mt. Zion.

Mt. Zion is filled with time-honored traditions, while still venturing into new adventures, every year.  Our annual, church barbecue in October is a hallmark event, taking place for more than four decades.  Our annual Easter and Christmas cantatas are guaranteed to touch your heart.  Family Fun Night, held on the last Sunday in October, is always a treat, and a chance to try out your best chili recipe and show off your most creative costume!  Our Spring Festival helps us reach out into the community to spread the love of Mt. Zion to our closest neighbors.  Vacation Bible School is always a blast whether you’re a kid or not.  The list goes on and on and on…

One the most amazing parts of Mt. Zion is our Youth group, called TheMount.  These young people truly have hearts for the Lord and build friendships that last a lifetime.  TheMount meets every 2nd and 4th Sunday, at 10:00 am. They have more activities than we can list, but some key ones are the annual beach trip to Panama City, summer camp and skiing in Gatlinburg.  They volunteer in soup kitchens, pack boxes for Operation Christmas Child, and sing carols at a local retirement home; all activities which reflect their love and desire to share Jesus with everyone.
