A Place to Connect

At Mt. Zion UMC, along with any other church or group of people, small groups are the place to truly get plugged in and feel a sense of belonging. Worship is great here, and we do it well, but the sense of community is what will keep you coming back. We have several groups for every age to get plugged in and to feel at home, from Sunday School classes to our Youth Group and our United Methodist Men and United Women in Faith groups and circles.

Sunday School Classes

The “New Life” class features a wide range of participants, with ages from 40 to 70 years old.  Each week features a different teacher leading the discussion. This class is truly multi-generational, and you will gain from a wide variety of life experiences here!

Our Wesleyan Class is for 50 years old and up. You’ll find folks who have been worshipping at Mt. Zion UMC for a long time and have a wealth of experience in the church and living Christian lives in the professional world. All ages are welcome here, but tends to be a bit older than the New Life class.

“Faith Journey” is a Sunday School class for college-aged to mid-adult. They meet every Sunday at 10:00 AM. The lessons vary from video-based studies, to book studies and more.

The Mount is our youth group, which meets twice a month during Sunday school, with the other two weeks per month dedicated to regular Sunday School Curriculum for 6th-8th grades and 9th-12th grades. They watch videos, play games, and share lessons geared towards teens. We’re so glad to support youth as they form themselves into the leaders our world needs!

We also have specific-aged classes for children and a nursery for children under 5 years old during our Sunday School period (as well as during worship). Children’s church happens every Sunday after the Children’s sermon in our 11AM worship service.

Groups and Circles

The United Methodist Men’s group meets on the first Sunday morning of the month at 9:00 am, following our monthly breakfast at 8:30 am, which is open to everyone.  They meet starting the month of September through May. The Men’s group takes on many service projects throughout the year and are focused on building up men of God.

The United Women In Faith (formerly United Methodist Women) meet on the first Sunday morning of the month at 9:00 am, September through May. There are small circles for various ages, including the Alice Bussey and Minnie Ware groups. The UMW take on service projects throughout the year, host Lenten lunches, and various other activities throughout the year.
